Polyester is the most widely-used clothing fiber in the world, but as a synthetic material, it can take up to 200 years to break down in landfill, leaving immeasurable amounts of microplastics in the environment. It kept Chris Wai awake at night.
In 2021, Chris decided to take action. He founded Sixone Labs to develop technology to divert these materials back into useful products. Then Alacrity stepped in to open doors to investment opportunities in Canada and the role government can play in supporting emerging cleantech like Sixone Labs.
